Let’s Get Started
People who see me for therapy are motivated to try something new. They’re ready to make the shift from coping to healing. They want to tend to the roots.
About Money
We live in a capitalist hellscape. Let’s be real – this is my job and I need to make money. And yes, good therapy is typically not cheap because a good therapist invests a lot into themself and their practice. I recognize that for me to able to show up, be present, and give to you in the way I want to, I have to be cared for financially, as well as taking the time and dedication to care for myself in other ways as well. My goal is to always be able to care for myself, while offering accessible care to participants, which is why I offer an equity model for care loosely based on the Green Bottle framework.
Insurance
I do not accept insurance, for several reasons. Insurance requires a diagnosis based on the DSM – a manual written primarily by white cishet men that blames us for having “mental illness” rather than holding accountable systems of oppression for the harm caused to us. Insurance requires regular detailed notes about what we do in session that become a permanent part of your medical record, and Somatic Experiencing is not a modality covered by insurance. Insurance companies may also “claw back” payments for your care, or refuse to pay, for any reason they see fit, leaving you with unexpected bills and me with a lot of rage. Being a private pay provider means that I can provide care that is personalized to your needs and desires in every moment, without the demands and threats of insurance companies hovering in the room with us. I can provide superbills for reimbursement for limited insurances.
