The Sun Always Rises
Somatic Therapy for trauma survivors tired of coping, and ready for healing. In Detroit, Michigan with Noel Spring (they/he).
Apricity: (a-PRIS-i-tee) noun. : The warmth of the sunlight in winter.
I show up well because I’ve been there.
I’m a complex trauma survivor, and I’ve seen some shit. After struggling for way too much of my life, somatics brought me home to myself, and into deeper connection with other people, animals, the Earth, and my ancestors. I believe you can change because I’ve changed. Let’s do it together.
You’ve heard the saying “Trauma lives in the body.” You know it’s true because you’re living it, and you’re at a point in your life where you’re ready to do the damn thing. There’s a good chance that you’ve done talk therapy already – the CBT and the self help books, maybe even yoga and meditation, but you can’t seem to get any further, and you know there’s gotta be something more. You’re critical of oppressive power structures within the therapy world (and in your day to day life), and you’re looking for someone to see you as a whole human, not a mental illness diagnosis.
It’s Your Time
In somatic therapy, we center the story of your body. This is the story that we’ve been taught to ignore, or that we’ve learned to ignore during experiences of stress or trauma. When your body gets to tell its story, and be heard, it doesn’t have to keep trying to tell you in ways that might be getting in the way of the life you want to live. Rather than spending an hour running on the hamster wheel of fighting to challenge and reframe your thoughts, instead we focus on inviting embodiment and shifting your nervous system. When you’re embodied and your nervous system shifts, your thoughts naturally shift with it, and change becomes something that is felt rather than just thought. You can stop repeating painful patterns (which may include chronic physical pain), recreating shitty relational dynamics, or feeling stuck. Are you ready to listen to your body tell you how?
“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence” – Peter Levine

I want you to be able to say “yes” with a full heart, and “no” with solid ground under your feet – with me and everyone else in your life. That first yes or no starts with your free consultation to see if we could be a good fit.
